This new build house is situated on a site bounded by large mature trees and by the river Slaney.
The site forms part of the former Bellevue Estate and incorporates the Bellevue Gate Lodge and entrance gates the only surviving relics of the estate.
The 3 bay 2 story house is laid out 2 rooms deep in a symmetrical arrangement with entrance portico and formal living spaces facing the river. The understated façade employs simple moulded features at floor line and window surrounds.
The detached three bay annex is linked to the formal house by a transparent glazed link opening to the forest and river. The annex has been designed in the tradition of the “loggia” aligned with the river, with hipped slated double bay roof and parapets. The double pilasters detail reference the double column motif on the adjacent Gate lodge. The house is a contemporary interpretation of the Irish Georgian Country home, successfully integrating modern open plan living within traditional form and proportion.
